Note: it is not allowed to peel off the rubber from the cord on the inner (from the side of the ridges) and outer surfaces of the belt, exposed or damaged cord, peeling of the ridge from the rubber base, the presence of cracks, delamination or wear on the sides of the belt and on the sides of the ridges of the belt. Replace belt if necessary.
2. (EJ-series) Check and adjust the tension and deflection of the accessory drive belts.
Alternator drive belt
A) Using the special tool, measure the tension and deflection at the locations shown in the figure.
Attachment drive belt (EJ-series).
1 - generator pulley,
2 - crankshaft pulley.
Generator drive belt.
Note: term "used" refers to a belt that has been in operation for more than 5 minutes.
b) Adjust the tension of the alternator drive belt.
Loosen the bolts (A) And (IN).
Adjust the belt tension using the special tool.
Tighten the bolts (A) And (IN).
Torque:
- bolt (A) - 29 Nm
- bolt (IN) - 61 Nm
Check belt tension.
Power steering pump drive belt
A) Using the special tool, measure the tension and deflection at the location shown in the figure.

1 - power steering pump pulley,
2 - coolant pump pulley,
3 - air conditioning compressor pulley.
Power steering pump drive belt (EJ).
b) Adjust the tension of the accessory drive belt.
Loosen the bolts (A) And (IN).
Move the power steering pump to adjust the belt tension.
Tighten the bolts.
Torque:
- bolt (A) — 16±3 Nm
- bolt (IN) — 54±24 Nm
Check belt tension.
A/C Compressor Drive Belt
Using the special tool, measure the deflection and tension of the A/C compressor drive belt.
A/C Compressor Drive Belt (EJ-series).
3. (KZ series) Check and adjust the tension of the accessory drive belt.
Alternator drive belt
A) Using the special tool, measure the tension and deflection.
Alternator drive belt (K3 series).
1 - coolant pump pulley,
2 - tensioner,
3 - air conditioning compressor pulley,
4 - crankshaft pulley,
5 - generator pulley,
6 - power steering pump pulley.
Alternator drive belt (KZ series).
Note: term "used" refers to a belt that has been in operation for more than 5 minutes.
b) Adjust the tension of the alternator drive belt.
loosen the nut (IN).
tighten the nut (IN) by hand so that the tensioner pulley does not dangle.
Adjust the belt tension by turning the bolt (A) and moving the tensioner pulley.
tighten the nut (IN).
- Tightening torque - 44±9 Nm
Check belt tension.
