Note: To achieve the normal operating temperature of 70-80°C of the working fluid, the vehicle must be driven at a speed of 60 km/h for at least 15 minutes or at a speed of 40 km/h for at least 30 minutes.

1. Place the vehicle on a level, horizontal surface and apply the parking brake.

2. With the engine idling, move the selector to each range from "P" to "L" with a delay of 2-3 seconds and return back to the "P" position.

3. Remove the dipstick and wipe it dry.

4. Insert the dipstick completely into the nozzle.

5. With the engine idling, remove the dipstick. The working fluid level should be between the "HOT" ("H") marks (warm). If the level is below this range, add working fluid.

Working fluid:
  • EJ-DE — DEXRON III or similar
  • KZ-VE, K3-VE2 — Type T-IV or similar

Note:
  • Do not overfill above the specified level.
  • The "COLD" ("C") level is used only when replacing the automatic transmission fluid or when the engine is not warmed up and running.

6. If the working fluid smells burnt or is black in color, take note of it.

To determine the fluidity, compare it with a fresh working fluid using a paper napkin. Normal working fluid is easily absorbed by the paper, and poor working fluid is absorbed slowly.
