Warning: These tests must be performed for 3-5 seconds to avoid overheating and burning of the stator winding.
1. Perform tests on the pull-in relay.
a) Disconnect the stator winding wire from terminal "C".
b) Connect the battery cable to the traction relay as shown in the figure and make sure that the drive gear is pulled out.

Otherwise, replace the starter solenoid relay.
2. Test the holding relay.
With the above connections made and the pinion gear extended outward, disconnect the negative battery cable from the "C" terminal. Make sure the pinion gear remains extended outward.

3. Check the return of the drive gear.
Disconnect the negative wire from the switch housing and check that the pinion gear returns to its original position (is drawn inward). Otherwise, replace the traction relay assembly.
4. Perform idle tests.
a) Connect the battery and ammeter to the starter as shown in the figure.

b) Make sure that the starter rotates smoothly and evenly. The starter pinion should be extended outward, and the current consumption should not exceed 90 A at a voltage of 11.5 V.
