Removing
1. Remove the oil pan (see Section Removal and installation of the pallet crankcase of the engine).
2. Put alignment marks on the injection pump and oil pump (refer to accompanying illustration).
3. Remove the cooling system outlet pipe.
4. Give fixture and remove the case of the oil pump (refer to accompanying illustration).
5. To disassemble the pump, remove its driven gear (refer to accompanying illustration), unscrew the pressure reducing valve plug and remove the valve, gasket and spring.
6. Scrape off all traces of sealant and old gasket material from the mating surfaces of the pump and engine block, then wipe the surfaces with a rag soaked in acetone.
Examination
1. Wash all components in solvent, then inspect them for signs of excessive wear and mechanical damage.
2. Inspect the friction surfaces of the pressure reducing valve components, evaluate the condition of the valve spring. If necessary, replace the valve assembly.
Installation
1. Lay the drive and driven gears in the pump housing with the markings towards the cover.
2. Lubricate the relief valve components with clean engine oil and install them in their proper place. Tighten the plug with a new seal.
3. Apply a pad of RTV Sealant to the pump mating surface (refer to accompanying illustration).
3. Apply a new rubber seal (refer to accompanying illustration).
Note. Pump installation must be completed within five minutes of applying sealant.
4. Tighten the oil pump housing bolts to 20 Nm.
5. Install the injection pump, guided by the marks applied earlier.
6. Unscrew the oil pump plug with a 5 mm hex wrench (refer to accompanying illustration) and pour about 10 cm into the pump3 engine oil.
7. Lubricate the threads of the plug with curable sealant and screw the plug into place.
8. Install the oil receiver with a new gasket.
9. Install the oil pan.
10. Add the required amount of engine oil, start the engine and check for signs of leaks.
11. Check the engine oil level again.
