Tool kit for changing spark plugs
1. Candle wrench; 2. Torque wrench; 3. Ratchet; 4. Adapter; 5. A set of gauges for checking the gap between the spark plug electrodes
Adjustment
1. Prepare tools and fixtures. When replacing candles, it is necessary to purchase new candles of the recommended type, set the gap and screw in instead of the old ones, replacing each candle separately.
2. Check the condition of the new spark plugs. If any signs of damage to the insulator are found, the candle cannot be installed.
3. Check the gap between the electrodes of the new spark plugs with a round gauge. The gap between the electrodes must correspond to that indicated on the engine compartment plate.
4. If the gap does not correspond to the norm, then bend the electrode using the lever on the body of the gauge set.
5. If the side electrode does not coincide with the central one, then bend the lever on the gauge set body until both electrodes are aligned in the center of the spark plug.
Removing
1. On the 1FZ-FE engine, remove the trim to access the spark plugs (photo on the left). Turn the tip half a turn while applying an upward force and remove the wire (photo on the right).
2. Blow around the spark plug with a pump to remove dirt.
3. Unscrew the spark plug with an extension wrench.
4. Regardless of whether the candle will change, or the old one is wrapped, check the condition of the candle.
Installation
1. Before screwing the candle into place, it is recommended to lubricate the threads with an anti-stick compound.
2. To wrap the candle without distortions, put a piece of hose with an inner diameter of 9.5 mm on the candle. As soon as the spark plug begins to twist, the hose will begin to scroll on the insulator, as a result of which damage to the threads is prevented.
3. Tighten the spark plug to the specified torque.
4. Install the tip by turning it half a turn while applying downward force.
5. Replace the remaining spark plugs in the same manner.
