Removal
1. Disconnect the battery from ground.
2. Remove the air intake, disconnect the crankcase ventilation hoses from the cover.
3. Remove the spark plug caps and disconnect the wires.
4. Disconnect the throttle and cruise control cables and set them aside. Remove the engine hanger hook from the front of the intake manifold.

5. Loosen the cylinder head cover bolts, remove the cover and gasket. If the cover does not give in, then move it with hammer blows through a soft spacer, or carefully open the seal with a spatula.
Installation

1. Thoroughly clean the sealing surfaces of the cover and cylinder head, remove traces of oil. Install a new gasket in the cover groove (the gasket does not need to be changed if it has not hardened and there is no damage on it). Make sure that the spark plug housing seals are intact (indicated by arrows).

2. Apply sealant to the half-round plugs (indicated by an arrow) and install them on the cylinder head.
3. Install the cover and tighten the bolts.
4. Tighten the cover bolts evenly to the specified torque.
5. Install the remaining parts, start the engine and check for leaks.
