Removal and installation
1. (LJ models): Press the drive belt with your hand to hold the pulley, and loosen the fastening nut. Remove the pump drive belt.
2. Remove fluid from reservoir.
3. Disconnect and then plug the pressure and return pipelines.
4. Turn away bolts of fastening and remove the pump.
Note:
- Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
- For KZJ models: Replace pump O-ring.
- After installation, bleed the system.
Examination
1. Checking the seat of the rotor shaft and measuring the gap.
A) Check the surface for wear and damage. If wear or damage is found, replace the pump housing.
b) Check the gap between the seat and the rotor shaft. Max gap 0.07mm
2. If necessary, replace the rotor shaft bearing.
3. Checking the rotor and stator ring.
A) Check that the measured gap between the rotor and the stator ring is less than the maximum allowable.
Maximum clearance - 0.06 mm
b) If the gap is greater, replace the stator ring with one that has the same marking as the rotor.
4. Checking the blades.
A) Check the blades for wear and scratches.
b) Measure the length, height and thickness of the blades.
For LJ models:
Minimum length 14.97 mm
Minimum height 7.8 mm
Minimum thickness 1.7mm
For KZJ models:
- Minimum length - 14.991 mm
- Minimum height - 8.6 mm
- Minimum thickness - 1.397 mm
V) Measure the gap between the blade and the rotor slot.
Max Clearance:
- Models LJ - 0.06 mm
- Models KZJ - Z. 0.035 mm
Note: Blades are available in five size groups corresponding to the following rotor and stator numbers.
LJ Models:
Number of rotor and stator ring | Blade length (mm) |
Without a number | 14,996- 14,998 |
1 | 14,994 - 14,996 |
2 | 14,992- 14,994 |
3 | 14,990 - 14,992 |
4 | 14,988 - 14,990 |
KZJ Models:
Number of rotor and stator ring | Blade length (mm) |
Without a number | 14,999-15,001 |
1 | 14,997- 14,999 |
2 | 14,995- 14,997 |
3 | 14,993- 14,995 |
4 | 14,991 -14,993 |
5. Control valve check.
A) Check the valve for wear and damage.
b) Lubricate the valve with power steering fluid and check that it drops freely into the hole in the rear of the housing under its own weight.
V) Check the valve for tightness.
G) Close one hole and bring air at 392 or 490 kPa pressure from the opposite side and make sure that air does not pass from the end hole.
d) If necessary, replace the valve with a new one bearing the same marking.
6. Checking the length of the control valve spring.
Spring length:
- Models LJ - 47 - 50 mm
- Models KZJ - 36.9 mm
7. Checking the rotation of the rotor shaft.
A) Make sure the rotor shaft rotates without obstruction or abnormal noise.
b) Temporarily install a bolt or nut, depending on the model, and measure the torque of the rotor shaft.
Scroll torque - 0.3 N.m or less
