Headlight wipers
1. Checking the switch.
A) Check for continuity between the connector terminals when the switch is in the "OFF",
b) Check for continuity between the connector terminals when the switch is in the "ON".
G) Replace the switch if it does not work as specified.
2. Check the relay.
A) Check for continuity between terminals 4 and 5.
b) Connect the battery to terminals 3 (+) and 5 (-) connector.
V) Connect battery to terminal 1 (-): conduction should appear between terminals 4 and 5, and remain for 0.30 - 0.42 sec, then conduction should disappear.
G) Replace the relay if it does not work as specified.
3. Check the operation of the electric motor,
A) Connect the battery to terminals 1 (+) and 2 (-): The motor must be running.
Attention: this check must be done quickly (within 3 - 5 seconds), so that the winding does not burn out.
b) Replace the motor if it does not operate as specified.
Front and rear wipers and washers
Note: The location of the switch on right hand drive models is symmetrical to its location on left hand drive models.
1. Checking the front wiper and washer switch.
A) Check the continuity between the switch terminals according to the table.
type 1:
b) type 2:
G) Replace the switch if it does not work as specified.
2. Checking the rear washer and wiper switch.
A) Check the continuity between the switch terminals according to the table.
b) Replace the switch if it does not work as specified.
3. Checking the front washer relay.
Note: Replace the relay if it does not work as specified.
Conductivity test
A) Check for continuity between terminals 1 and 3 (for modifications: between terminals 5 and 6).
b) Check for continuity between terminals 2 and 3 (for modifications: between terminals 2 and 5).
Note: for models without washer connection between terminals 1 and 4.
Checking work
A) Connect "plus" battery to terminal 1, and "minus" - to terminals 2-4-5 (for modifications: to terminals 6 (+) and 3-2-7 (-)).
Note: for models without washer connection: to terminals 3 (+) and 2-4 (-).
b) Connect "plus" voltmeter to terminal 3, and "minus" - to terminal 4 (for modifications: to terminals 5 (+) and 3 (-).
Note: for models without washer communication: to terminals 1 (+) and 2 (-).
V) Make sure the voltage changes as shown in the picture.
Checking Intermittent Operation (models with washer connection)
A) Connect "plus" battery to terminal 1, and "minus" - to terminals 2 and 5 (for modifications: to terminals 6 (+) and 7-2 (-)).
b) Connect "plus" voltmeter to terminal 3, and "minus" - to terminal 5 (for modifications: to terminals 5 (+) and 7 (-)).
V) Connect "minus" battery to terminal 6 (for modifications: to terminal 8 (-)) and check that the voltage value rapidly changes from 0V to battery voltage.
G) Disconnect "minus" battery from terminal 6 (for modifications: from terminal 8 (-)) and check that the voltage value changes from battery voltage to 0 V within approximately 2.5 seconds.
4. Checking the rear wiper relay.
Note: Replace the relay if it does not work as specified.
Conductivity test
A) Check for continuity between terminals 1 and 3.
b) Check for continuity between terminals 2 and 3.
Checking work
A) Connect "plus" battery to terminal 1, and "minus" - to terminal 6.
b) Connect "plus" voltmeter to terminal 2, and "minus" - to terminal 6. Check that there is no voltage.
V) Connect "plus" voltmeter to terminal 3, and "minus" - to terminal 6. Check that the voltage value matches the battery voltage.
Checking Intermittent Operation
A) Connect "plus" battery to terminal 1, and "minus" - to terminal 2.
b) Connect "plus" voltmeter to terminal 3, and "minus" - to terminal 4.
V) Disconnect "minus" battery from terminal 4 and connect to terminal 1. Check that the voltage rises from 0V to battery voltage within 6-10 seconds.
5. Checking the front wiper motor.
Note: Replace the motor if it does not work as specified.
Checking low speed operation
Connect "plus" battery to terminal 2, and "minus" to the motor housing: the motor must run at low speed.
Checking High Speed Operation
Connect "plus" battery to terminal 1, and "minus" to the motor housing: the motor must run at high speed.
Operation check, pause and stop
A) Run the motor at low speed and stop it by disconnecting "plus" battery from terminal 2.
b) Short terminals 2 and 3.
V) Connect "plus" battery to terminal 4, and "minus" to the motor housing. The motor must stop at the end position and then start again.
6. Checking the rear wiper motor.
Note: Replace the motor if it does not work as specified.
Checking low speed operation
Connect the battery to terminals 3 (+) and 2 (-): The motor must run at low speed.
Operation check, pause and stop
A) Turn on the motor at low speed and stop at any position, except for the extreme one, by disconnecting the positive (+) wire from terminal 3.
b) Short terminals 3 and 4.
V) Connect the battery to terminals 1 (+) and 2 (-): The motor must return to the end position and then turn on again.
7. Checking the washer motor.
Connect the battery to terminals 2 (+) and 1 (-): The motor must be running. Replace the motor if it does not operate as specified.
Attention: do not turn on the electric motor for a period of time exceeding 20 seconds, otherwise the winding may burn out.
