Recommendation: In case of lack of engine power, excessive oil consumption or increased fuel consumption, check the pressure at the end of the compression stroke.
1. Warm up the engine, then stop it.
2. Disconnect the fuel cut solenoid valve connector.
3. Remove glow plugs (see related section).
4. Measure the pressure in the engine cylinders.
A) Install a compression gauge.
b) Turning the crankshaft with a starter, measure the pressure at the end of the compression stroke.
Recommendation: The battery must be fully charged so that the engine speed is at least 250 rpm.
V) Repeat the previous steps for each cylinder.
Warning: These measurements must be taken as soon as possible.
- Compression end pressure: 32.0 kg/cm2
- Minimum pressure: not less than 20.0 kg/cm2
- Difference between individual cylinders: no more than 5.0 kg/cm2
G) If one or more cylinders show low pressure, pour a small amount of engine oil into the cylinder through the glow plug hole, then retest for that cylinder.
If the addition of oil increases end-stroke pressure, the piston rings and/or cylinder are worn or damaged.
If the pressure remains low, the valve may be sticking or not seated properly, and the gasket may leak.
5. Install glow plugs (see related section).
6. Connect the fuel cutoff solenoid valve connector.
