Removing
Remove the tailgate trim with a plastic spatula by releasing the clips. For vehicles up to 4/87, the wedged clip inserts must first be pressed out.
Disconnect the fluid supply hose to the washer nozzle.
Disconnect the washer motor connector.
Unplug central locking plug at tailgate motor, if fitted.
Mark the position of the tailgate. To do this, circle the hinged bolts with a felt-tip pen.
Remove the gas-filled stop from the tailgate by unscrewing the ball joint.
Attention: If the gas-filled stop is to be replaced, it must be degassed before being scrapped. To do this, it is necessary to drill a hole with a diameter of 2-3 mm in the area of the marking applied in a zone 10-20 mm wide from the end of the cylinder and completely release the gas. The gas is colorless, odorless and non-toxic (pic. G-4822).
Remove the hinge bolts and remove the tailgate. This requires outside help. Place a cloth between the door and the body frame to protect the paintwork.
Installation
Install the door. Screw in the bolts. Align door and tighten bolts to 20 Nm.
Install the gas-filled stop on the ball bearings.
Caution: When the stop is fully extended, the piston rod must not be rotated in relation to the cylinder.
Tailgate adjustment
Loosen, without unscrewing, the bolts of the constipation.
Loosen the hinge bolts and install the door longitudinally and transversely so that its edges are parallel to the body opening.
Tighten lock bolts to 20 Nm.
Attach the fluid supply hose to the windshield washer nozzle.
Connect the washer motor connector.
Fasten the tailgate trim with clips.
