The distributor was installed on 4A-FE engines (until 08.1994) and 4S-PE.
Removal
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Disconnect the high voltage wires from the distributor cap.
3. Disconnect the distributor connector.
4. After unscrewing the two clamping bolts, remove (pull out) the distributor, then separate the ring seal from the distributor housing.
Installation
1. Set the piston of the first cylinder to TDC at the end of the compression stroke (see section "Timing belt" chapters devoted to the corresponding engine).
2. Install the distributor.
a) Install a new O-ring under the distributor housing and apply a thin layer of fresh engine oil to it.

b) Align the groove on the coupling with the protrusion on the distributor housing.

c) Insert the distributor, centering its mounting flange with the mounting hole in the cylinder head and aligning the holes in the distributor flange with the holes for the mounting bolts in the cylinder head.
d) Lightly tighten the two clamp bolts.
d) Secure the high-voltage wire holder (clamp) with a bolt.
3. Connect the high-voltage wires to the spark plugs in accordance with the engine firing order: 1-3-4-2.
4. Connect the distributor connector.
5. Connect the wire to the negative terminal of the battery.
6. Adjust the ignition timing (see subsection "Adjusting the ignition timing angle" in the section "Maintenance").
8. After adjusting the ignition timing angle, finally tighten the distributor housing clamp bolts.
- Tightening torque - 20 Nm
