Pic. 2.15. Block diagram of the lubrication system for engines 1ZZ-FE AND 3ZZ-FE
The lubrication system is completely sealed, all oil passes through the oil filter.
Engine lubrication is provided by a cycloidal gear pump driven directly from the crankshaft.
In these engines, oil is supplied under pressure to the top of the cylinder head and then drained into the sump through a channel in the cylinder head.
To improve maintainability, the oil filter is attached to the bottom of the crankshaft main bearing cap assembly.
A WT-i controller and a hydraulic valve for variable valve timing are mounted on the cylinder head. The VVT-i system is powered by oil supplied from the engine's pressurized lubrication system.
Differences from previous models
To ensure maintainability, technological holes are provided in the engine protective cover for changing engine oil and oil filter.
