Note. If equipped, lock the rear axle differential.
1. Loosen rear wheel nuts. Jack up the vehicle and place it on jack stands under the base frame, not under the rear axle). Support the front wheels with wheel chocks. Remove rear wheels.
2. Place a jack under the differential housing of the rear axle assembly.
3. Disconnect the driveshaft from the differential (see Section Removal and installation of cardan shaft) and tie it aside to the frame elements. Remove axle shafts (see Section Removal and installation of axle shafts, bearings and seals of the rear axle).
4. Disconnect all brake lines attached to the axle housing. Seal open ends of pipes and hoses immediately.
5. Remove rear brake assemblies (see chapter Brake system).
6. Disconnect the parking brake cables from the brake mechanisms, then release the cables from the clamps on the rear axle housing (see chapter Brake system).
7. Disconnect from the rear axle housing and tie up the ventilation hose to the side.
8. Remove the shock absorbers from the support brackets on the axle housing, compress them and move them aside.
9. Disconnect the anti-roll bar, transverse torque rod, upper and lower suspension arms (see chapter Suspension and steering).
10. Lower the jack under the differential and remove the rear axle assembly from under the vehicle.
11. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Make sure that all fasteners of the suspension elements are tightened with the required force (see chapter Suspension and steering).
12. Bleed the brake system (see chapter Brake system).
