Attention! The procedure for installing the ignition and the necessary data are indicated on the engine compartment plate of the car.
1. Short circuit terminals E1 and TE1 of the diagnostic connector.
2. Check idle speed.
3. With the ignition off, connect the stroboscope according to the device manufacturer's instructions.
4. Marks for setting the ignition and TDC on early production cars are located on the flywheel crown. Remove the cover.
5. On late production vehicles, the ignition setting scale is located on the crankshaft pulley. Wipe the setting scale well.
6. Mark the recess on the pulley crown and on the scale with paint, guided by the plate data.
7. Start the engine and point the strobe light at the scale. The mark on the crankshaft pulley should be opposite the corresponding designation on the scale. If necessary, loosen the distributor mounting bolt and slowly turning the distributor, set the ignition timing. Tighten the distributor bolt and check the ignition timing again.
8. Switch off the ignition and remove the stroboscope.
