Transfer case adapter (G52 gearbox). 1 - magnet, 2 - oil receiver, 3 - reverse gear locking pin, 4 - transfer case adapter, 5 - oil seal, 6 - plug, 7 - plug.
Checking and repair
1. Replacing the transfer case adapter seal (if necessary).
a) Using a screwdriver, remove the oil seal.
b) Using a drift, install a new seal.
c) Apply grease to the seal lip.
2. Checking and replacing the reverse gear locking pin.
a) Using a socket wrench with an internal Allen key, unscrew the plug.
b) Using a punch and hammer, knock out the locking pin.
c) Remove the reverse gear locking pin.
d) Turn the locking pin and press it, applying force along the axis of the pin.
d) Install the reverse gear locking pin onto the transfer case adapter.
e) Using a punch and hammer, drive in the locking pin as shown in the figure.
c) Apply sealant to the plug threads.
Sealant - THREE BOND 1344, LOCTITE 242 or equivalent.
d) Using a socket wrench with an internal Allen bolt, install and tighten the plug.
Tightening torque: 19 Nm
