13.3.1. Removal
- Both wishbones can be removed separately. Figure 216 shows the fastening of the transverse arms, however, it should be noted that for the model years described in this publication, both transverse arms are fastened with a long bolt and nut on the outside, and not with bolts (8) And (9), shown in the figure.
- Place the rear of the car on stands.
- Remove the rear wheels.
- Unscrew the bolt and nut of the transverse arm from the outside of the wheel hub bracket and release the arm.
- Unscrew the bolt and nut securing it to the body from the inside of the transverse arm. On a wishbone with an adjusting eccentric (17) Check where the eccentric mark on the inside of the transverse arm and the eccentric mark on the outside of the transverse arm are located. If necessary, mark the adjusting eccentric and/or the adjusting bolt and the body.
- Pull out the wishbone. The wishbone bushings cannot be replaced. If they are broken, you need to replace the entire transverse arm as a set. In this case, it is better to replace both wishbones.
13.3.2. Installation
Installation of the transverse arms is carried out in reverse order, taking into account the following points:
- Place the wishbone on the inside, drive in the bolt and tighten the nut. If equipped, set the adjusting eccentric to the correct position. Do not tighten the bolt and nut yet.
- Secure the transverse arm with a bolt and nut from the inside. Washers are placed under both the bolt and the nut. Do not tighten the bolt and nut yet.
- Lower the car onto its wheels and rock the rear of the car several times. so that the transverse arm supports settle.
- Tighten the transverse lever fastenings to the tightening torques indicated in Figure 216. Please note that when tightening the transverse lever fastenings (7) Only tighten the bolts, as the nuts are locked and cannot rotate. On the other wishbone, make sure that the adjusting eccentric does not turn when tightening the bolts and nuts. After tightening the connection, check that the adjusting eccentric is in the correct position, that is, the marks match.
- Connect the anti-roll bar links and tighten the nuts to a torque of 35 Nm.
- Finally, check the alignment of the rear wheels.
