13.3.1. Removal
- Both wishbones can be removed separately. Figure 216 shows the attachment of the wishbones, but it should be noted that for the years of production described in this publication, both wishbones are secured with a long bolt and nut on the outside, and not with bolts (8) and (9) shown in the figure.
- Place the rear of the vehicle on stands.
- Remove the rear wheels.
- Loosen the wishbone bolt and nut on the outside of the wheel hub bracket and release the wishbone.
- Loosen the bolt and nut securing the cross arm to the body on the inside. On the cross arm with the adjusting eccentric (17), check where the eccentric mark is on the inside of the cross arm and the eccentric mark on the outside of the cross arm. If necessary, make a mark on the adjusting eccentric and/or on the adjusting bolt and on the body.
- Pull out the wishbone. The wishbone bushings cannot be replaced. If they are broken, the entire wishbone must be replaced. In this case, it is better to replace both wishbones.
13.3.2. Installation
The transverse levers are installed in the reverse order, taking into account the following points:
- Place the wishbone on the inside, hammer in the bolt and tighten the nut. If present, set the adjusting eccentric to the correct position. Do not tighten the bolt and nut yet.
- Secure the cross arm with a bolt and nut from the inside. Place washers under both the bolt and the nut. Do not tighten the bolt and nut yet.
- Lower the car onto its wheels and rock the rear of the car several times to settle the wishbone bearings.
- Tighten the cross arm fastenings to the tightening torques shown in Figure 216. It should be noted that when tightening the cross arm fastening (7), tighten only the bolts, since the nuts are locked and cannot rotate. On the other cross arm, ensure that the adjusting eccentric does not turn when tightening the bolts and nuts. After tightening the connection, check that the adjusting eccentric is in the correct position, i.e. the marks match.
- Connect the anti-roll bar links and tighten the nuts to a torque of 35 Nm.
- Finally, check the rear wheel alignment angles.
