Pic. 2.72. Engine cooling system 1CD-FTV
Closed cooling system with forced circulation.
To avoid deterioration of the quality of the coolant when it comes into contact with air, a sealed expansion tank is installed in the cooling system.
To maintain the operating temperature of the coolant, a thermostat with a bypass valve is installed on the inlet side of the pump. When the coolant temperature rises, the thermostat opens the bypass valve, thus maintaining an optimal temperature distribution in the cylinder head.
To reduce weight, an aluminum radiator is used.

Differences from previous models
In the valve of the exhaust gas recirculation system (HORN) provided with a channel for the coolant.
The EGR system uses a liquid cooler.
The cooling system uses Toyota Genuine SLLC Extended Life Coolant. As a result, it was possible to reduce the frequency of maintenance.
Extended Drain Coolant (SLLC) is a mixture of 50% coolant concentrate and 50% distilled water. It is not necessary to dilute the coolant when topping up or replacing.
When mixing LLC and SLLC coolants, the replacement should be made according to the frequency for LLC (every 30,000 km or 24 months, whichever comes first).
When replacing LLC brand coolant (Red) at SLLC (Pink colour) subsequent replacements can be made according to the frequency for SLLC (every 80,000 km of run).
