- a) The engine is warmed up to normal operating temperature
- b) The air filter is installed.
- c) All air intake system tubes and hoses are connected.
- d) All vacuum lines are connected.
- d) The injection system wiring connectors are connected
- e) All additional equipment is switched off.
- g) The ignition timing (injection) angle is set correctly.
- c) The gear lever is in neutral position.
- and) (Models with power steering) Set the steering wheel to the straight ahead position
3S-FE, 3S-GE, 4A-FE, 4S-FE, 7A-FE
1. Connect the tachometer. Connect the tachometer tester probe to the "IG" (-) terminal of the diagnostic connector.
Note:
- Never allow the tachometer lead to touch ground as this may cause damage to the commutator and/or ignition coil.
- Some tachometers are not compatible with this ignition system, so check the compatibility of the device before use.

2. Check the idle speed.
- a) Start the engine and increase the engine speed to 2500 rpm and maintain this speed for approximately 90 seconds. Release the throttle.
- b) Check the idle speed.
Idle speed:
- 3S-FE - 700 ±50 rpm
- 3S-GE - 800±50 rpm
- 4A-FE:
- models with manual transmission - 750±50 rpm
- models with automatic transmission - 800±50 rpm
- 7A-FE - 750 ±50 rpm
If the idle speed is not as set, check the idle air control valve.
3. Disconnect the tachometer.
5E-FE
1. Connect the tachometer. Connect the tachometer tester probe to the IG (-) terminal of the diagnostic connector.
Note:
- Never allow the tachometer lead to touch ground as this may cause damage to the commutator and/or ignition coil
- Some tachometers are not compatible with this ignition system, so check the compatibility of your unit before use.
2. Check the operation of the additional air supply valve.
- a) Disconnect the air cleaner hose from the throttle body.
- b) Check the rotation speed by closing the air valve channel on the throttle body (coolant temperature below 80°C).
- When the channel is closed, the rotation speed should decrease, but not more than 100 rpm. Otherwise, replace the additional air supply valve.
- c) Connect the air cleaner hose to the throttle body.
3. Adjust the idle speed
- a) Short-circuit the terminals "TE1" and "E1" of the diagnostic connector.
Note: Reduce the speed after the engine runs at 1000-1300 rpm for 5 seconds.
- b) Check the idle speed.
- Idle speed (the cooling system fan is off): 700±50 rpm
If the idle speed is not as specified, adjust the idle speed with the idle speed adjusting screw.
- c) Remove the jumper from the diagnostic connector.
4. Check the idle speed.
- Idle speed: 700+50 rpm
5. Disconnect the tachometer from the engine.
2C, 2C-T
1. Connect the tachometer.
2. Check and adjust the minimum idle speed.
- a) Check that the control lever touches the minimum idle speed adjusting screw when the accelerator pedal is released. If not, adjust the accelerator drive.
- b) Start the engine.
- c) Check the minimum idle speed.
- Minimum idle speed: 750-800 rpm
- d) Adjust the minimum idle speed. Disconnect the gas pedal drive. Loosen the lock nut of the minimum idle speed adjustment screw. Adjust the minimum idle speed by turning the minimum idle speed adjustment screw.
- Tighten the lock nut securely and check the idle speed again. Reconnect the accelerator drive. After adjusting the idle speed, adjust the accelerator drive.
3. Adjust the maximum speed.
- a) Check that the control lever touches the maximum speed adjusting screw when the accelerator pedal is fully depressed.
- If not, adjust the accelerator drive.
- b) Start the engine.
- c) Press the accelerator pedal fully.
- d) Check the maximum speed.
- Maximum rotation speed: 5100- 5200 rpm
- d) Adjust the maximum speed. Disconnect the accelerator drive. Cut the wire of the seal of the maximum speed adjusting screw. Loosen the lock nut of the maximum speed adjusting screw.
Adjust the maximum speed by turning the maximum speed adjusting screw.
Note: Adjust the minimum idle speed. Then, increase the engine speed and check the maximum speed.
Tighten the lock nut securely.
Check the maximum speed again.
Reconnect the accelerator drive. After adjusting the speed, adjust the accelerator drive. Put a new wire seal on the maximum speed adjusting screw.
