- A) Engine warmed up to normal operating temperature
- b) Air filter installed.
- V) All tubes and hoses of the air intake system are connected.
- G) All vacuum lines are connected.
- d) Injection wiring connectors connected
- e) All accessories are off.
- and) Ignition advance angle (injection) installed correctly.
- h) Gear lever in neutral position.
- And) (Models with hydraulic booster) Set steering wheel to straight ahead
3S-FE, 3S-GE, 4A-FE, 4S-FE, 7A-FE
1. Connect a tachometer. Connect the probe of the tachometer tester to the output "IG" (-) diagnostic socket.
Note:
- Never let the tachometer lead touch "land", this may cause damage to the switch and/or ignition coil.
- Some tachometers are not compatible with this ignition system. therefore check the compatibility of the device before use.
2. Check up frequency of rotation of idling.
- A) Start the engine and increase the engine speed to 2500 rpm and maintain this speed for approximately 90 seconds. Release throttle.
- b) Check idle speed.
Idle speed:
- 3S-FE - 700±50 rpm
- 3S-GE - 800±50 rpm
- 4A-FE:
- models with manual transmission - 750±50 rpm
- models with automatic transmission - 800±50 rpm
- 7A-FE - 750±50 rpm
If the idle speed is out of specification, check the idle control valve.
3. Disconnect the tachometer.
5E-FE
1. Connect a tachometer. Connect the tachometer tester probe to the IG pin (-) diagnostic socket.
Note:
- Never let the tachometer lead touch "land", as this may cause damage to the switch and/or ignition coil
- Some tachometers are not compatible with this ignition system, so check the compatibility of your instrument before use.
2. Check the operation of the auxiliary air valve.
- A) Disconnect the air filter hose from the throttle body.
- b) Check the RPM by closing the air valve port on the throttle body, (coolant temperature below 80°C).
- When the channel is closed, the speed should decrease, but not more than 100 rpm. Otherwise, replace the secondary air valve.
- V) Connect the air filter hose to the throttle body.
3. Adjust idle speed
- A) Bridge the pins "TE1" And "E1" diagnostic socket.
Note: Reduce the speed after the engine has been running at 1000-1300 rpm for 5 seconds.
- b) Check idle speed.
- Idle speed (cooling fan off): 700±50 rpm
If the idle speed is not correct, adjust the idle speed with the idle speed adjusting screw.
- V) Remove the jumper from the diagnostic socket.
4. Check up frequency of rotation of idling.
- Idle speed: 700+50 rpm
5. Disconnect the tachometer from the engine.
2S, 2S-T
1. Connect a tachometer.
2. Check and adjust the minimum idle speed.
- A) Check that the control lever touches the minimum idle speed adjusting screw when the accelerator pedal is released. If not, adjust the accelerator actuator.
- b) Start the engine.
- V) Check the minimum idle speed.
- Minimum idle speed: 750-800 rpm
- G) Adjust the minimum idle speed. Disconnect the accelerator drive. Loosen the minimum idle speed adjusting screw locknut. Adjust the minimum idle speed by turning the minimum idle speed adjusting screw.
- Tighten the jam nut carefully and check the idle speed again. Reconnect the accelerator drive. After adjusting the speed, adjust the accelerator drive.
3. Adjust the maximum speed.
- A) Check that the control lever touches the maximum speed adjusting screw when the accelerator pedal is fully depressed.
- If not, adjust the accelerator drive.
- b) Start the engine.
- V) Fully depress the accelerator pedal.
- G) Check the maximum speed.
- Maximum speed: 5100- 5200 rpm
- d) Adjust the maximum speed. Disconnect the accelerator drive. Cut the wire of the seal of the maximum speed adjusting screw. Loosen the maximum speed adjusting screw locknut.
Adjust the maximum speed by turning the maximum speed adjusting screw.
Note: Adjust the minimum idle speed. Then, increasing the engine speed, check the maximum speed.
Tighten locknut carefully.
Check the maximum speed again.
Reconnect the accelerator drive. After adjusting the speed, adjust the accelerator drive. Place a new wire seal on the maximum speed adjusting screw.
