Front disc brakes. 1 - brake pipe, 2 - spring retainer, 3 - gasket (obstructive "squeal'' brakes), 4 - inner lining (obstructive "squeal" brakes), 5 - inner shoe, 6 - outer shoe, 7 - caliper assembly, 8 - spring (anti-chatter), 9 - pin, 10 - pad wear indicator, 11 - adjusting ring, 12 - cuff, 13 - piston, 14 - piston seal, 15 - hub assembly with brake disc.
Replacement of brake pads
Note: brake pads are equipped with wear indicators so that when driving, when the thickness of the pads is minimal, the wear indicator touches the brake disc and the brakes make an unpleasant sound ("screech").
1. Remove the front wheel.
2. Check the thickness of the brake pads. If it is out of specification, replace the brake pads.
Standard thickness - 9 mm
Maximum thickness - 1 mm
3. Remove the parts listed below.
A) Spring retainer.
b) Two pins.
V) Spring to prevent rattling.
G) Two pads.
d) Four pads preventing "squeal" brakes.
4. Check the thickness of the brake disc.
5. Check brake disc runout.
6. Installation of new pads.
A) Drain a small amount of brake fluid from the reservoir.
b) Use a hammer handle or similar to loosen the pistons.
Note: always change pads on one wheel only, as there is a danger of the opposite wheel piston coming out.
V) Install four spacers to prevent "squeal" brakes.
G) Install two pads in the cylinder.
Note: Avoid getting oil or grease on the friction surfaces of the brake disc.
7. Install anti-rattling springs.
8. Install two pins.
9. Install the spring retainer.
Removing the caliper assembly
1. Remove the front wheel.
2. Disconnect the brake hose. Drain the brake fluid into the reservoir.
3. Turn away two fixing bolts and remove a support in gathering.
4. Remove the following parts.
A) Spring retainer.
b) Two pins.
V) Spring to prevent rattling.
G) Two pads.
d) Four pads to prevent "screech" brakes.
Check and repair
1. Measure the thickness of the brake lining. Replace the pads if the lining thickness is less than the limit value or if the wear is uneven.
Maximum thickness - 1 mm
2. Measure the brake disc thickness. If the disc is worn or burred, or less than the minimum thickness, the disc needs to be repaired or replaced.
Minimum Thickness:
- conventional - 11.5 mm
- ventilated - 18.0 mm
Standard Thickness:
- ordinary - 12.5 mm
- ventilated - 20.0 mm
3. Measure the runout of the brake disc at a distance of 10 mm from the outer edge. If the runout exceeds the maximum value, replace the brake disc.
Maximum runout - 0.15 mm
Note: Before measuring the brake disc runout, make sure that the front wheel bearing runout is within the normal range.
4. If necessary, replace the brake disc.
A) Remove the front wheel hub.
b) Loosen the bolts and remove the disc from the wheel hub.
V) Install the new disc on the hub and tighten the mounting bolts.
G) Install the hub and adjust the bearing preload.
Installing the caliper assembly
1. Install the caliper assembly and tighten the two mounting bolts.
Tightening torque - 123 N.m
2. Install four spacers to prevent "screech" brakes, two pads, spring (anti-chatter) and two pins. Then install the spring clip.
3. Connect the brake pipe.
Tightening torque - 23 N.m
4. Fill the brake reservoir with brake fluid and bleed the brake system.
5. Check the brake system for fluid leaks.
6. Install the front wheel.
