Rear disc brakes. 1 - plug, 2 - caliper mandrel, 3 - piston dust boot, 4 - piston, 5 - piston seal, 6 - main pin bushing, 7 - dust seal, 8 - caliper, 9 - auxiliary pin, 10 - main pin, 11 - gaskets, 12 - brake pad clamps, 13 - lining wear indicators, 14 - brake pad, 15 - anti-noise lining.


Replacing brake pads



Note: The brake pads are equipped with wear indicators in such a way that when driving, when the thickness of the linings is minimal, the wear indicator touches the brake disc and the brakes make an unpleasant sound ("squeal").




1. Remove the rear wheel.



2. Check the thickness of the brake pads through the technological hole in the caliper and replace the pads if this thickness does not meet the standard.

Minimum thickness - 1.0 mm



3. Removing the brake cylinder.

a) Unscrew and remove the main and auxiliary fingers.



b) Remove the caliper assembly and suspend it so that the brake hose is not stretched or twisted.

Note: Do not disconnect the brake hose.




4. Remove the following parts in sequence:



a) Two brake pads.

b) Anti-noise pad that eliminates brake squealing.

c) Two brake lining wear indicators.

d) Four brake shoe clamps.

5. Check the thickness of the brake disc.

6. Check the brake disc runout.

7. Install the four brake shoe clamps.



8. Installing new brake pads, +

a) Install wear indicators.

b) Install the noise insulation on the outer brake shoe.



c) Install the two brake pads with the wear indicators facing upward.

Note: Do not allow oil or grease to come into contact with the friction surface of the brake linings.




9. Installing the caliper assembly.



a) Pump out a small amount of brake fluid from the reservoir.

b) Using a hammer handle or similar tool, press the piston into the caliper.

Note: Replace both brake pads on one wheel at the same time.




c) Install the caliper carefully so as not to damage the piston dust boot.

d) Install and tighten the main and auxiliary pins.

Tightening torque - 88 Nm

10. Install the rear wheel.

11. Fill the reservoir with brake fluid.

Removal the caliper assembly



1. Loosen the union bolt and disconnect the brake hose. Drain the brake fluid into a container.

2. Unscrew the main and auxiliary pins and remove the caliper assembly.

3. Remove the brake pads.

Checking and repair



1. Measure the brake pad thickness. Replace the pad if the pad thickness is less than the minimum acceptable or if the wear is uneven.

Minimum thickness - 1 mm

Standard thickness is 10 mm

2. Measure the thickness of the brake disc. If the brake disc is scored, worn, or less than the minimum thickness, replace the disc.

Minimum thickness - 16 mm

Standard thickness - 18 mm



3. Measure the runout of the brake disc at a distance of 10 mm from the outer edge. If the runout exceeds the maximum permissible value, replace the disc.



Maximum runout - 0.15 mm

Note: Before measuring runout, make sure that the front bearing play is within the specified range.


4. Replacing the brake disc (if necessary).

a) Remove the caliper mandrel.

b) Loosen the wheel nuts of the temporarily installed brake disc and remove the disc from the wheel hub.

c) Install the new brake disc and temporarily secure it with the wheel nuts.

d) Install the caliper mandrel and tighten the mounting bolts.

Tightening torque - 103 Nm



Installing the caliper assembly



1. Install the brake pads.

2. Install the caliper assembly and secure it with bolts.

Tightening torque - 88 Nm

3. Connect the brake hose and, using new gaskets, then tighten the union bolt.

Tightening torque - 30 Nm



4. Fill the reservoir with brake fluid and bleed the brake system.

5. Check the system for leaks.
