Rear axle. 1 - brake drum, 2 - O-ring, 3 - inner oil seal, 4 - parking brake cable, 5 - circlip, 6 - bearing retainer, 7 - axle shaft bearing, 8 - axle shaft, 9 - outer oil seal.
Removing the half shaft
1. Hang out the car and establish support racks under a frame.
2. Remove wheel and brake drum (if installed).
3. Using a special tool, disconnect the brake pipe from the brake shield.
3. Remove cotter pin, remove pin and disconnect parking brake cable from crank arm.
4. Turn away four nuts of fastening of a brake board and remove a semiaxle in gathering with a brake board.
Attention: be careful not to damage the oil seal when removing the axle shaft from the rear axle housing.
5. Remove the O-ring from the rear axle housing.
Disassembly of the half shaft
1. Remove the circlip from the axle shaft.
2. Removing the axle shaft from the brake shield (drum brakes).
Note: for models with rear disc brakes, the removal of the axle shaft from the protective casing is carried out in the same way.
A) Install the special tool on the brake shield.
b) Press the axle shaft out of the brake shield.
V) Remove the bearing holder from the axle shaft.
3. Use a screwdriver to remove the outer gland.
4. Using the special tool, press out the bearing.
Checking the half shaft
1. Check the axle shaft for wear or damage.
2. Check the runout of the axle shaft. Replace axle shaft if runout exceeds maximum allowable value.
Maximum allowable runout:
- axle shaft - 2.0 mm
- half shaft flange - 0.2 mm
Half shaft assembly
1. Using the special tool, press the new bearing into the brake shield.
2. Installation of an external gland.
A) Using a mandrel and a hammer, install a new oil seal into the brake shield.
b) Apply grease to the seal lip.
3. Installation of the axle shaft in the brake shield.
A) Install the brake shield and bearing holder on the axle shaft.
b) Using the special tool, press the axle shaft into the brake shield.
4. Install the circlip on the axle shaft.
Installing the half shaft
1. Replacing the inner seal.
A) Using the special tool, remove the oil seal from the rear axle housing.
b) Install the new seal using a drift and hammer.
V) Apply grease to the seal lip.
2. Apply grease to the O-ring, then install the O-ring to the rear axle housing.
3. Install the axle shaft assembly with the brake shield in the rear axle housing. Warning: be careful not to damage the seal.
4. Tighten the four brake shield mounting nuts.
Tightening torque - 69 N.m
5. Connect the parking brake cable and brake pipe to the brake shield.
6. Install the brake drum and wheel.
7. Bleed the brake system.
