Removing the oil pump
Note: When repairing the oil pump, the oil pan and receiver oil must be removed and cleaned.
1. Drain the engine coolant.
2. Drain the engine oil.
3. Remove fan drive belts, fan and water pump pulley.
4. Remove the timing belt.
5. Remove the timing belt gears.
Oil pump disassembly (L series engines): 1 - crankshaft front oil seal, 2 - oil pump housing (timing belt cover), 3 - driven gear, 4 - drive gear, 5 - pump housing cover, 6 - screw, 7 - plug, 8 - gasket, 9 - spring, 10 - bypass valve.
Removing the oil pump (KZ series motors): 1 - alternator adjusting bracket, 2 - pressure reducing valve, 3 - spring, 4 - gasket, 5 - pump drive gear, 6 - pump housing (rear timing belt cover), 7 - oil receiver, 8 - sump, 9 - O-ring.
6. (Only 1KZ-T) Loosen the alternator adjusting bracket bolts and remove it.
7. (Only 1KZ-T) Remove the generator and its bracket.
8. Remove the water pump.
9. (Only 1KZ-T) Remove the oil level sensor.
A) Disconnect the sensor connector.
b) Remove the 4th bolt and remove the sensor.
10. Remove the oil pan.
A) Loosen all bolts and nuts securing the pan.

b) Insert a blade between the cylinder block and the oil pan, cut off the applied sealing material and remove the oil pan.
Attention: you should be careful. not to damage the oil pan flange.
11. Remove the oil receiver and gasket by unscrewing the two bolts and two nuts.
L series engines

12. Remove the oil pump (rear timing belt cover).
A) (2L, 2L-T, 3L engines with preheat control) Disconnect the water bypass hose of the thermostat unit from the timing belt cover.
b) Before removing the two nuts securing the timing belt cover to the injection pump, check the alignment of the injection pump marks.
If there are no marks, apply new marks for reinstallation.
V) Remove the two nuts securing the injection pump.
G) (Only 1KZ-T) Loosen the cover screws (all engines) and socket bolt.

d) Tap the cover with a plastic mallet and remove it.

e) (Only 1KZ-T) Remove the three rubber o-rings.
Oil pump disassembly
1. (L series engines) Place the timing belt cover on wooden stands.
Attention: you should choose the height of the supports so as not to damage the TDC indicator.
2. Turn out a stopper and remove a lining, a spring and the pressure reducing valve.
L series engines

3. (L series engines) Remove the six screws, then remove the pump housing cover, male and female rotors.
4. (KZ series motors) Remove pump drive gear.
