Bring the base length of both steering rods to the same value, i.e. before measuring the toe-in, measure both dimensions "A" and "B" in the place shown in Figure 203. The difference should not exceed 1.0 mm. Otherwise, loosen the steering rod lock nuts and turn the heads accordingly.

The toe-in measurement is performed as follows:
- Apply the appropriate measuring rod to the front of the wheels to the protrusions of the wheel rims or the centers of the tires and set the scale to zero. Mark the points of application of the rod with chalk.
- Remove the rack and move the car forward half a turn of the wheels until the chalk marks are aligned with the hubs at the rear of the wheels, as shown in Figure 204.

- Place the measuring rod with the zeroed scale on the rear part of the wheel and move the rod feeler gauges. Read the scale reading.
- If the rear dimension is larger than the front dimension, there is negative toe-in, if it is smaller, the toe-in is positive. The best adjustment value is 0 mm, but if the measurement result does not exceed 2.0 mm of positive toe-in or 2.0 mm of negative toe-in, no toe-in adjustment is required. If adjustment is required, it should be made to 0 mm toe-in with a tolerance of 4-1 mm or -1 mm.

Adjust the toe-in as follows:
- Remove the wire fasteners of the cuffs. Loosen the locknuts of both steering rods. Both stages of work are shown in Figure 205.

- Hold the steering tip with a wrench or pliers in the flat part of the steering rod, shown in Figure 206, and use the wrench to adjust the steering rods on both sides to the same length.

- Re-measure the toe-in and, if it is adjusted correctly, tighten both locknuts to 74 Nm.
- Push the cuffs on, squeeze the wire clips and insert their ends into the groove of the cuffs.
