1. Preparation

a) Remove the battery and battery bracket.

b) Remove the plugs and connect the pressure gauge to the corresponding hole.

c) Install the battery and battery mounting bracket.
  • Tightening torque - 7-10 Nm

Note:
  • Warm up the automatic transmission fluid to operating temperature (70-90°C).
  • After completing the test, disconnect the pressure gauge and install new plugs.

Tightening torque of the plug is 7 - 10 Nm

2. Measure the throttle valve pressure, direct clutch (C1), forward clutch (C2) and second gear brake pressure (B2).

a) Apply the parking brake.

b) Start the engine.

c) Gently press the brake pedal and move the selector to the "D" range. Measure the idle pressure.

d) Repeat the check for the selector range "R" and "2".

Installing a pressure gauge.
1 - measuring the throttle valve pressure (front part of the gearbox housing),
2 - measuring the pressure in the main line (lower rear part of the gearbox housing),
3 - measuring the speed controller pressure (rear part of gearbox housing),
4 - measuring pressure in the main line (upper part of the gearbox housing).

Caution: Release the accelerator pedal and stop the test if the rear wheels begin to spin before the RPM reaches its maximum value.

3. Measure the first gear brake pressure (B1).

a) Place chocks under the drive wheels.

b) Start the engine.

c) Move the selector lever from range D to range 3 and 2. At the moment of switching to range "2", measure the pressure of the working fluid. At the moment of switching to range "3" with the accelerator pedal fully released, measure the pressure.

4. Measure the pressure of the first gear brake (B1) and the reverse clutch (RC).

a) Place chocks under the drive wheels.

b) Start the engine.

c) Place the selector lever in the "D" range, press the accelerator pedal, after switching to third gear, release the accelerator pedal and immediately measure the pressure.

5. Measure the speed regulator pressure.

a) Start the engine.

b) Place the selector lever in the "D" range and measure the pressure at speeds of 30 and 60 km/h.

6. Analysis of the test results:

a) If the pressure on all ranges does not correspond to the specified values, then:

(The publication is taken from the website: «ToyotaMAN»)
  • the gearbox pump is faulty.
  • the working fluid filter is faulty.
  • the sealing rings are faulty.
  • the working fluid filter is dirty.
  • the valve block is faulty.
  • the battery is faulty.
  • the throttle valve is faulty.

b) If the pressure is below the specified values in the "D" range, then:
  • the valve block is faulty.
  • the manual pressure check valve is faulty.
  • the forward clutch is faulty.

c) If the pressure is below the specified values in the "R" range, then:
  • throttle valve is faulty;
  • the throttle valve tip is faulty;
  • loosening the valve-throttle mounting bolt;
  • valve block malfunction;
  • manual pressure check valve is faulty;
  • the working fluid filter is faulty;
  • the main line is faulty.

d) If the pressure is below the specified values in the "R" range, then:

  • the speed controller is faulty.
  • valve block malfunction
  • the manual pressure check valve is faulty.
  • the working fluid filter is dirty.
  • the main line is faulty.
