Checking the pressure in the main line



1. Preparation:

a) Warm up the transmission fluid to operating temperature (50 - 80°C).

b) Unscrew the plug and connect a pressure gauge in its place.

Important: Always check the pressure with two people: one person should watch the wheels and the other should perform the check.




2. Measure the pressure in the main line.

a) Block the car wheels with chocks and apply the parking brake.

b) Start the engine and check the idle speed.

c) Press the brake pedal and move the selector to position "0". Measure the idle pressure.

d) Press the accelerator pedal all the way down. Quickly measure the pressure in the line when the rotation speed reaches the maximum value. Compare the obtained pressure values with the values given in the table "Pressure in the main line".

Caution: Release the accelerator pedal and stop the test if the rear wheels begin to spin before the RPM reaches its maximum value.


d) Repeat the check with the selector in the "R" range.

e) If the pressure does not correspond to the specified one, check the adjustment of the throttle valve control cable and repeat the test.



3. Analysis of the test results:

a) If the pressure on all ranges is higher than the specified values, then:
  • the throttle valve control cable is not adjusted,
  • the throttle valve is faulty,
  • the pressure regulator is faulty.

b) If the pressure in all ranges is below the specified values, then:
  • the throttle valve control cable is not adjusted.
  • the throttle valve is faulty,
  • the pressure regulator is faulty,
  • the automatic transmission pump is faulty,
  • the locking clutch of the step-up planetary gear set is faulty.

c) If the pressure is below the specified values in the "D" range, then:
  • there is a fluid leak in the control circuit in the "D" range,
  • the forward clutch is faulty.

d) If the pressure is below the specified values in the "R" range, then:
  • there is a leak of automatic transmission fluid in the control circuit in the "R" range,
  • the reverse clutch is faulty,
  • the first gear and reverse gear brake are faulty.

Checking the pressure of the speed regulator (A140L)



1. Warm up the automatic transmission to operating temperature (50 - 80°C).

2. Jack up the car.

3. Unscrew the plug of the speed regulator channel and install a pressure gauge in its place.



Note:
  • Check the adjustment of the throttle valve control cable.
  • Check your tire pressure.




4. The parking brake must not be applied.

5. Start the engine.

6. Set the selector to position "D" and measure the speed regulator pressure as indicated in the table.



If the pressure does not correspond to the specified values, then either there is a leak of working fluid in the speed regulator circuit, or the speed regulator itself is faulty.
