1. (Standard ignition system). Connect a tachometer or stroboscope. The tachometer test lead is connected to the negative (-) terminal of the ignition coil.

(Electronic ignition system. Version with diagnostic connector).

Remove the cover of the connecting terminal and connect the tachometer test lead to it.

1- Connecting terminal cover;
2 - Distributor;
3 - Wire.

(Electronic ignition system. Version without diagnostic connector). Connect the tachometer test lead to the terminal (black wire) distributor.

1 - Black wire;
2 - Wire;
3 - Distributor.

Warning: Never touch the tachometer lead or ignition coil leads to ground, as this will damage the ignition coil and commutator.

Some tachometers are not compatible with this ignition system, so you will need to check your tachometer for compatibility before using it.

2. (Standard ignition system). Check and, if necessary, adjust the angle of the closed state of the breaker contacts.
  • Nominal value - 52±6°

3. (For the version with a double diaphragm in the vacuum regulator of the ignition timing angle).

Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum timing adjuster and plug the end.

4. Adjust the ignition timing.

a) Measure the ignition timing angle at normal idle speed:
  • Nominal value - 8° before TDC

b) Loosen the distributor mounting bolt.

c) Set the required ignition timing angle by turning the distributor housing.

d) Tighten the mounting bolt and check the ignition timing again.
  • Tightening torque - 18 Nm

5. (For the version with a double diaphragm in the vacuum regulator of the ignition timing angle).

Connect a vacuum hose to the vacuum regulator of the ignition timing angle and check the ignition timing angle, the value of which at normal idle speed is:
  • approximately 20° before TDC
