Disc brake
Mark the position of the wheel rim in relation to the hub so that the balanced wheel can be reinstalled when reassembled. Remove the wheel nuts.
Place the car on a lift. Remove wheels.
Visually check the thickness of the brake lining without removing it. In doubtful cases, remove the brake pad and measure the thickness of the friction lining with a vernier caliper.
The friction lining is considered worn if its thickness has reached 1 mm (without reason).
If the pad is worn, it must be replaced. In this case, it is necessary to change all the linings of one axle.
Note: According to current experience, 1 mm of worn lining thickness corresponds to a vehicle travel time of 1000 km. However, this has to do with harsh operating conditions. Under normal conditions, pads last longer. With a pad thickness of 5.0 mm (with base) the brake pad retains its performance for another 4000 km.
Install wheels as marked. Remove the vehicle from the lift and tighten the wheel nuts crosswise to 105 Nm.
Drum brake
Raise the back.
Remove the rubber covers from the inspection holes from the rear brake shields and illuminate them with a lamp. The lining is considered worn if its thickness is 1 mm (without foundation). In doubtful cases, remove the brake drums and measure the lining thickness.
If the pad is worn, it must be replaced. It is necessary to replace all 4 linings of both wheels.
Install the rear wheels, taking into account the markings. Remove the vehicle from the lift and tighten the wheel nuts crosswise to 105 Nm.
