- Place a new head gasket on the cylinder block. Make sure that the front side of the gasket matches the front side of the engine. Both pins must go through the spacer.
- Check that the pin at the end of the camshaft is on top and place the cylinder head on the cylinder block so that the pins engage.
- Coat the threads and undersides of the cylinder head bolt heads with engine oil and screw the bolts into the holes.
- Tighten the cylinder head bolts in the reverse order shown in Figure 300, three passes until the final tightening torque of 84 Nm.
- Screw on the front engine lift bracket.
- Apply the cylinder head cover gasket and install the cover (valve clearances must already be adjusted, otherwise see next chapter). The contact surface to the left and right of the camshaft flange on the front side, as well as in the middle to the left and right of the camshaft, must be covered with a layer of sealant. The cover is secured with 6 washers and nuts. Tighten the nuts to 7 Nm.
- Place the middle toothed belt cover and then install all the removed parts of the timing drive, as already described.
- The rest of the work is done in reverse order. The following hoses must be connected: fuel return hose to the fuel pump, two water hoses to the cylinder head, two fuel hoses to the high pressure fuel pump.
