Note: before starting the test, warm up the automatic transmission fluid to a temperature of 50-80°C.
Range check "D"
Translate the selector to a range "D" and depress the accelerator pedal all the way.
1. Check the presence of switching 1->2, 2->3, 3->4 and the compliance of the switching points with the values given in the table "Switching points".
Analysis of results.
A) No switching 1->2:
- defective solenoid valve No. 2,
- switching valve 1->2 is stuck.
b) No switching 2->3:
- the switching valve 2->3 sticks,
- faulty solenoid valve No. 1,
V) No switching 3->4:
- the switching valve 3->4 sticks,
G) If the switching times do not correspond to the table, then:
- throttle valve control cable not adjusted,
- defective: throttle valve, changeover valve 1->2, changeover valve 2->3, changeover valve 3->4, etc.
d) If there is no torque converter lockup, then:
- the torque converter lock-up solenoid valve sticks,
- Faulty torque converter lock-up valve.

A: Torque converter lock-up ON.
B: Torque converter lock-up OFF.

(): For 7A-FE
Note: partial lockup of the torque converter is tested on the range "D" and mode "NORM".

2. Similarly, check the absence of shocks and slipping of the friction controls during shifts 1->2, 2->3 and 3->4.
Analysis of results.
If strong shocks are felt during switching, then:
- the pressure in the main line is too high,
- faulty hydraulic accumulator,
- check valve defect.
3. When working in third or overdrive, in the range "D", check for abnormal noise or vibration.
Attention: Noise and vibration may be caused due to imbalance of the cardan shaft, differential, transformer, etc.
4. Check the operation of the forced buck (increasing) switching (kick-down), 2->1, 3->2, 4->3 and the correspondence of the switching points to the values given in the table "Switching points".
Analysis of results.
If the downshift speeds do not match the table, then:
- improper adjustment of the throttle cable,
- faulty throttle valve, changeover valve 1->2, changeover valve 2->3, changeover valve 3->4, etc.
5. Check up absence of shocks and slippage at forced lowering of transfer.
Checking the operation of the torque converter lock-up
Check for torque converter lock-up operation when driving in overdrive.
Press the accelerator pedal: the speed should not change sharply. If there is a sudden change, then there is no blockage.
Range check "2"
1. Move the selector to position ''2'', press the accelerator pedal all the way. Check the presence of switching 1 -> 2 and the compliance of the switching point with the value indicated in the table "Switching points".
2. When driving in second gear, there should be engine braking after load shedding. If there is no engine braking, then the engine braking mode brake in second gear is faulty.
3. Check the noise and vibration levels during upshifting and downshifting.
Range check "L"
1. When driving in range "L" upshifts. should not be - the car should only move in first gear.
2. Load shedding (accelerator pedal release) engine braking should take place. If there is no engine braking, the first gear brake and reverse gear are faulty.
3. Check the level of noise and vibration when accelerating and decelerating the car.
Range check "R"
Move the selector to position "R" depress the accelerator pedal to the 3rd stop. Check the absence of slipping of the friction elements of the automatic transmission.
Range check "R"
Park the car on a slope (at least 5°), move the selector to position "R" and release the parking brake: the latch of the locking mechanism must hold the vehicle.
Check of system of prohibition of inclusion of a backing when driving forward (A245E)
Attention: in the event of a malfunction of this system, this check may damage the automatic transmission.
1. Make sure that when the car moves forward at a speed of more than 20 km / h, when the selector is moved to the position "R", reverse gear is engaged only when the vehicle is at a complete stop.
2. When the vehicle is moving at a speed of less than 20 km / h, move the selector to the position "N", then in "R" and check that the selector lever does not lock in this position.
