The car comes with two types of keys:
- 1 - main key (black), that fits every castle (this key will be needed by the Toyota dealer in order to make a new key with integrated transponder circuitry);
- 2 - additional key (grey) - it does not fit in the glove box and trunk.
There is a transponder chip in the head of the primary and secondary key, which is very important for the functioning of the system, so be careful not to lose these keys. If you make a duplicate key yourself, you will not be able to cancel this locking system and start the engine.
Since the doors can be locked without a key, you should always carry a spare master key with you in case you accidentally lock the keys in the car.
When using a key containing a transponder chip, observe the following precautions.
When starting the engine, do not allow the ring to be on the key handle, and do not press on it with the ring. Otherwise, the engine may not start or may stop immediately after starting.
When starting the engine, do not allow the key to come into contact with other keys with a transponder chip (including with keys of other cars) and do not press the key handle with another key.
Otherwise, the engine may not start or may stop immediately after starting. If this happens, remove the key and then reinsert it by removing the other transponder keys from the ring or by hand covering them, then start the engine.
Do not bend the key handle.
Do not cover the key handle with any material that may interfere with the smooth passage of electromagnetic signals.
Do not tap hard with the key on other objects.
Do not expose the key to prolonged exposure to high temperatures, such as leaving it on the dashboard or hood in direct sunlight.
Do not put the key in water and do not wash it in an ultrasonic unit.
Do not use the wrench together with electromagnetic materials.
Plate with key number
The key number is shown on the plate. Keep it in a safe place, such as your wallet, but not in your car. If keys are lost or additional keys are needed, your Toyota dealer can make duplicates based on the key number. We recommend that you write down the key number and keep it in a safe place.
