The car comes with two types of keys:
  • 1 - master key (black) that fits every lock (this key will be needed by the Toyota dealer to make a new key with the transponder circuit built in);
  • 2 - additional key (gray) - it does not fit the glove box and trunk.

The head of the main and additional keys contains a transponder chip, which is very important for the system to function, so be careful not to lose these keys. If you make a duplicate key yourself, you will not be able to cancel this blocking system and start the engine.

Since the doors can be locked without a key, you should always carry a spare master key in case you accidentally lock your keys in the car.

When using a key containing a transponder chip, observe the following precautions.

(The text is quoted from the source website: «ToyotaMan.ru»)

When starting the engine, do not allow the ring to be on the key handle and do not press it with the ring. Otherwise, the engine may not start or may stop immediately after starting.

When starting the engine, do not allow the key to come into contact with other keys with a transponder chip (including keys from other cars) and do not press the key handle with another key.

Otherwise, the engine may not start or may stop immediately after starting. If this happens, remove the key and then reinsert it, removing the other transponder keys from the ring or covering them with your hand, and then start the engine.

Do not bend the handle of the key.

Do not cover the key handle with any material that may interfere with the free passage of electromagnetic signals.

Do not hit other objects with the key too hard.

Do not expose the key to high temperatures for long periods of time, such as leaving it on the dashboard or hood in direct sunlight.

Do not put the key in water or wash it in an ultrasonic device.

Do not use the key with electromagnetic materials.

Plate with key number

The key number is shown on the plate. Keep it in a safe place, such as a wallet, but not in the car. If the keys are lost or additional keys are needed, your Toyota dealer can make duplicates based on the key number. We recommend that you write down the key number and keep it in a safe place.
