Removal
Warning! If your radio has an anti-theft code, check that you have the connection codes before disconnecting the battery.
Caution! On models from 1993 onwards, the airbag system is disabled if the battery is disconnected for an extended period of time. If the airbag warning light comes on and remains on after the battery is reconnected, contact a specialist workshop to restore the system to working order.
1. Remove the oil filler cap.
2. Remove the ground cable from the battery.
3. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on stands.
4. Remove the engine splash shield.
5. Drain the engine oil.
6. Remove the oil filter.
7. Remove the exhaust pipe.

8. Unscrew the bolts and remove the bracket securing the gearbox to the engine.
9. Remove the bolts and remove the oil pan.
Installation
1. Clean the mating surfaces of the oil pan and cylinder block.
2. Check the condition of the oil receiver mesh filter and, if necessary, remove and clean it.

3. Apply a 3-4 mm bead of sealant to the mating surface of the oil pan.
4. Install the oil pan onto the engine and secure with bolts.
5. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Install a new oil filter and fill the engine with motor oil.
