Examination

1. Clean all oil pump parts and check their condition.

2. Check the condition of the outer surface of the safety valve and the spring. If the spring or valve is damaged, they are replaced as a set.

3. Using a feeler gauge, check the clearance between the pump body and the outer rotor.

4. Using a feeler gauge, check the gap between the inner and outer rotor teeth.

5. Using a feeler gauge blade, check the axial clearance of the rotors.

Installation

1. Replace the sealing ring in the oil pump housing.

2. Install the outer and inner rotors into the oil pump housing, aligning the timing marks on the oil pump rotors.

3. Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the mating surface of the oil pump cover, install the cover on the oil pump body and screw it on with screws.

4. Lubricate the relief valve parts with clean engine oil and install them into the oil pump housing.

5. Clean the surface of the oil pump housing that is mated with the engine cylinder block from oil.

Apply a 2–3 mm layer of sealant to the mating surface of the oil pump housing.

Install the O-ring into the groove of the oil pump housing.

6. Align the groove on the inner rotor of the oil pump with the key of the crankshaft and install the oil pump on the engine block.

7. Secure the oil pump with bolts, tightening them crosswise.

8. Install the oil pickup pipe with a new gasket and secure with bolts.
