Removal
Warning! If your radio has an anti-theft code, check that you have the connection codes before disconnecting the battery.
Caution! On models from 1993 onwards, the airbag system is disabled if the battery is disconnected for an extended period of time. If the airbag warning light comes on and remains on after the battery is reconnected, contact a specialist workshop to restore the system to working order.
Location of bolts securing the aluminum section of the oil pan to the cylinder block
1. Remove the oil filler cap.
2. Remove the ground cable from the battery.
3. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on stands.
4. Remove the engine splash shield.
5. Drain the engine oil and unscrew the oil filter.
6. Remove the exhaust pipe.

7. Unscrew the two bolts and remove the flywheel housing protective cover.
8. Remove the two bolts securing the aluminum oil pan section to the transmission.
9. Remove the 10 bolts and two nuts securing the steel section of the oil pan and remove it.
10. Remove the oil receiver pipe with the mesh filter.
11. Remove the 17 bolts securing the aluminum section of the oil pan to the cylinder block and remove it (see Fig. Location of bolts securing the aluminum section of the oil pan to the cylinder block).
Installation
1. Clean the mating surfaces of the oil pan and cylinder block.
2. Clean the mating surfaces of the steel and aluminum oil pans.
3. Apply a bead of sealant into the grooves and outside of the bolt holes on the mating surface of the aluminum oil pan.
4. Install the aluminum oil pan section onto the cylinder block and secure with bolts.
5. Inspect the oil pump and check the condition of the oil receiver mesh filter.
6. Apply a 3-4mm bead of sealant to the mating surface of the steel oil pan section.
7. Install the steel oil pan section and secure with bolts.
8. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Install a new oil filter and fill the engine with oil.
