Repairs that do not require engine removal [Toyota Camry XV10]

Many engine repairs can be performed directly on the vehicle. Before starting repairs, we recommend that you thoroughly clean the engine and engine compartment. Depending on the type of work being performed, it may be necessary to remove the hood.

Without removing the engine from the vehicle, you can fix various types of leaks, such as replacing the intake and exhaust manifold gaskets, head cover gasket, oil pan gasket, crankshaft O-rings, and cylinder head gasket.

External components and assemblies such as the intake and exhaust manifolds, oil pan, oil pump, water pump, starter, alternator, distributor and fuel system components may also be removed from the engine for repair.

Since the cylinder head can be removed without removing the entire engine from the vehicle, the camshafts, timing belt and timing belt pulleys can be replaced with the engine installed in the vehicle.
