Removing
1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
Attention! If your radio has an anti-theft code, check that you have the pairing codes before disconnecting the battery.
Attention! On models since 1993, the airbag system is disabled if the battery is disconnected for an extended period. If the airbag warning light comes on and stays on after reconnecting the battery, take it to a specialist workshop to restore the system to normal.
2. If the head cover is removed from the rear cylinder head, remove the rear heat shield, air filter housing, throttle and air intake.
3. If the head cover is removed from the front cylinder head (near the radiator), remove the high voltage wires from the spark plugs.
4. Separate the front wiring harness and disconnect the electrical connectors from the following items:
- A) three left fuel injectors,
- b) oil pressure sensor,
- V) air conditioning compressor,
- G) generator,
- d) coolant temperature sensor.
5. Disconnect the rear wiring harness and disconnect the electrical connectors from the following items:
- A) three right fuel injectors,
- b) coolant temperature indicator sensor,
- V) oxygen sensor,
- G) power steering pump.
6. Unscrew nuts and remove a cover of a head of the block of cylinders.
Installation
1. Clear interfaced surfaces of a cover and a head of the block of cylinders.
2. Install the semi-circular gaskets in the cylinder head seats and apply a thin layer of sealant to the cylinder head in the places shown in the figure.
3. Install new gaskets on the spark plug tubes.
4. Install a new gasket on the head cover, install the cover on the cylinder head and secure with nuts.
5. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
