Many engine repairs can be carried out directly on the vehicle. It is recommended to thoroughly clean the engine and engine compartment before starting repair work. Depending on the type of work, the hood can be removed for easier access to the engine.
Without removing the engine from the vehicle, various types of leaks can be repaired, such as replacing intake and exhaust manifold gaskets, oil pan gasket, crankshaft O-rings, cylinder head gasket, and so on.
External parts and assemblies such as intake and exhaust manifolds, oil pan, oil pump, water pump, starter, alternator, ignition distributor and fuel system components can be removed from the engine for repair.
Since the cylinder head can be removed without dismantling the entire engine from the car, the gas distribution mechanism can also be repaired without unnecessary operations. In exceptional cases, without removing the engine from the car, it is possible to replace piston rings, pistons, connecting rods and liners of main and connecting rod bearings.
