Removing
Attention! If your radio has an anti-theft code, check that you have the pairing codes before disconnecting the battery.
Attention! On models since 1993, the airbag system is disabled if the battery is disconnected for an extended period. If the airbag warning light comes on and stays on after reconnecting the battery, take it to a specialist workshop to restore the system to normal.
1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
2. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the cylinder head cover.
3. Remove high voltage wires from spark plugs.
4. Unscrew two bolts and remove the top casing of a gear belt.
5. Remove the nuts securing the head cover to the spark plug tubes.
6. Carefully remove the cylinder head cover. If the cover is stuck to the cylinder head, do not insert a lever or screwdriver between the cover and the cylinder head. Use a wooden mallet to knock the cover off the cylinder head with light blows.
Installation
1. Clear interfaced surfaces of a cover and a head of the block of cylinders.
2. Apply a thin layer of sealant to the cylinder head in the places shown in the figure.
3. Install a new gasket on the cylinder head and then the cylinder head cover.
4. Screw on the nuts of the cylinder head cover and tighten them in several stages to their required torque.
5. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
