Removing
Attention! If your radio has an anti-theft code, check that you have the pairing codes before disconnecting the battery.
Attention! On models since 1993, the airbag system is disabled if the battery is disconnected for an extended period. If the airbag warning light comes on and stays on after reconnecting the battery, take it to a specialist workshop to restore the system to normal.
1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
2. Drain the coolant from the cooling system.
3. Loosen the clamp securing the air filter hose to the throttle body and remove the upper part of the air filter housing.
4. Mark the wires, hoses and cables connecting the intake manifold to the rest of the engine.
5. Carefully remove the wiring harness from the intake manifold.
6. Remove all heat shields and brackets and unscrew the bolts securing the intake manifold to the cylinder head.
7. Remove the intake manifold from the engine.
Installation
1. Clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and intake manifold.
2. Install a new gasket and intake manifold to the engine.
3. Secure the intake manifold with nuts by tightening them in several stages from the center to the periphery.
4. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Pour coolant into the cooling system. Start the engine and check that there are no leaks and that all systems are working properly.
