Recommendation
Before installing the center console on 1992 and 1993 models, use a spring scale to check the force required to move the shift lever.
If the shift lever movement force is not within the standard, remove the shift lever and install a shim of the appropriate thickness (see table Thickness of adjusting shims used to change the force applied to the gearshift lever to move it).
Using a thicker shim increases the amount of force required to move the lever.
1. Remove the center console.
2. Remove the clips and disconnect both shift cables from the shift lever.

3. Remove the bolts and shift lever assembly.
4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
