Removing
1. Remove the hood.
2. Reduce the pressure in the fuel system.
3. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
Attention! If your radio has an anti-theft code, check that you have the pairing codes before disconnecting the battery.
Attention! On models since 1993, the airbag system is disabled if the battery is disconnected for an extended period. If the airbag warning light comes on and stays on after reconnecting the battery, take it to a specialist workshop to restore the system to normal.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector, unscrew the bolts and remove the cruise control actuator.
5. Remove the battery and battery stand.
6. Remove the air intake and air filter cover.
7. Disconnect the fuel lines from the engine and plug them.
8. Remove the fuel filter along with the bracket.
9. Remove the canister of charcoal.
10. Remove the windshield washer reservoir and expansion tank.
11. Disconnect the accelerator cable and medium speed control cable from the throttle body.
12. Tag and disconnect vacuum hoses, coolant hoses, vent hoses, electrical connectors, and ground straps.
13. Remove the radiator fans along with the shrouds. Drain the coolant and remove the radiator. Disconnect the coolant supply hoses to the heater.
14. Remove the shift cable from the gearbox.
15. Raise the vehicle and secure it on stands. Remove wheels.
16. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the manifold.
17. Remove mud flaps.
18. Drain the engine oil from the engine.
19. Remove drive belts.
20. Drain the gearbox oil.
21. Disconnect the drive shafts from the gearbox.
22. On models with power steering, unscrew the power steering pump mounting bolts and move it to the side without disconnecting the hoses from it.
23. On air-conditioned models, unscrew the compressor mounting bolts and move the compressor to the side without disconnecting the hoses from it.
24. On models with four-cylinder engines with an oil cooler, remove the oil filter and disconnect the hoses from the oil cooler.
25. Remove the clutch slave cylinder and hoses.
26. Hook the power unit to the hoist and lift it until the weight of the power unit is supported by the hoist.
27. Unscrew the power unit mounts.
28. Check that there is nothing else connecting the power unit to the vehicle's engine compartment.
29. Using caution, slowly lift the power package out of the vehicle's engine compartment.
30. Install the power unit on wooden beams.
31. Remove the starter.
32. If necessary, remove the clutch and check its condition.
Installation
1. Apply a small amount of high temperature grease to the bearing at the end of the crankshaft.
2. Being careful, install a transmission on the engine and fasten bolts, having tightened them the demanded moment.
3. Being careful, install the power unit in the engine compartment of the car.
4. Install the power unit supports and secure them with bolts.
5. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
6. Pour coolant into the engine cooling system, engine oil into the engine, and oil into the transmission. Start the engine and check for leaks.
7. Shut off the engine and recheck the coolant and engine oil levels.
