The cruise control system maintains a constant vehicle speed using an actuator located near the battery in the engine compartment. The actuator motor is connected to the throttle valve by a cable or rod.
The cruise control system consists of an actuator, brake switch, clutch switch, control switches and relays, and electrical wiring and vacuum hoses (see Fig. Location of cruise control system components on a vehicle).
