Fig. 1.71. Windshield wiper switch operating modes diagram
To turn on the windshield wiper, move the lever to the desired position (Fig. 1.71).
The key must be in the "ON" position.
Automatic mode (position 1).
The speed of the windshield wipers depends on the amount of rain and sunlight detected by the automatic windshield wiper control sensor.
Fig. 1.72. Automatic windshield wiper adjustment sensor
The automatic windshield wiper adjustment sensor is installed on the inside of the front glass (Fig. 1.72).
If the speed of the automatic wiper control system is higher or lower than required, turn the automatic control knob in the "-" direction to decrease sensitivity, and in the "+" direction to increase sensitivity.
Even if the windscreen wiper lever is in position 1, the system switches to intermittent operation in the following cases:
- when the windshield is frozen (at temperatures below -10°C);
- when the system is faulty.
In addition, if the windshield is very hot (above 90°C), the windshield wipers do not work, even if the windshield wiper lever is in position 1.
If the ignition is switched off when the windscreen wiper lever is in position 1, the windscreen wipers will not operate automatically when the ignition is switched on, even if there are raindrops on the windscreen.
In this case, first move the lever to another position, then return it to position 1 again.

Caution: Be careful not to get your fingers caught in the windshield wipers.
Caution! Even if the windscreen wiper lever is in position 1 with the ignition on, the system operates in automatic mode in the following cases:
- - when touching the upper center of the front glass near the sensor;
- - when wiping the upper center of the front glass (next to the sensor) towel, etc;
- - when the front glass vibrates;
- - when touching the sensor.
Note: When cleaning the inside of the windshield, be careful not to allow detergent or water to come into contact with the automatic wiper adjustment sensor.
To release a jet of washer fluid, pull the lever towards you (position 5).
If the windshield wipers are turned off, they will run for several cycles after releasing the jet.
In freezing weather, warm up the windshield with a windshield defroster before using the windshield washer. This will prevent the washer fluid from freezing on the windshield, which will obscure your view.
Caution! When waxing your car, be careful not to clog the washer nozzles. If the washer nozzles are clogged, do not try to clean them with sharp objects. This will damage the nozzles.
