Pic. 1.142. Brake lining wear indicator
Brake pad wear indicators on disc brakes emit a warning noise if the brake pads are worn to the point where they need to be replaced (pic. 1.142).
If you hear a squealing or squeaking noise while driving, have your brake pads checked and replaced immediately by your nearest Toyota dealer.
Avoid prolonged driving with warning noise.
Driving for extended periods without changing the brake pads will result in serious costly damage to the rotor and an increase in brake pedal force to achieve the same stopping distance.
When stowing cargo or luggage in a vehicle, observe the following rules:
- if possible, place cargo or luggage in the trunk. Be sure to securely fasten all items in place;
- make sure the car is balanced. Placing the weight as far forward as possible helps to maintain balance;
- For better fuel economy, do not carry unnecessary cargo.
Warning!
- - To prevent cargo or luggage from sliding forward during braking, do not place anything in the extended luggage compartment above the level of the seatbacks. Place cargo or luggage lower, as close to the floor as possible.
- - Never carry people in an extended luggage compartment. It is not designed to carry passengers. Passengers must be transported in their designated seats with their seat belts properly fastened. Otherwise, they will be much more susceptible to serious physical injury in the event of an unexpected braking or collision.
- - Do not place anything on the panel behind the rear seatbacks. Such objects can move from side to side; in addition, there is a risk of injury in the vehicle during hard braking or an accident.
- - It is forbidden to drive a car if any objects are placed on the dashboard. They can block the driver's view. In addition, they may move during hard acceleration or when the vehicle is turning and interfere with the driver's control of the vehicle. During an accident, they can cause injury to people inside the vehicle.
