All vehicles are provided with identification data from the manufacturer, located in various parts of the body. The vehicle's engine is also provided with an identification number, usually stamped on the body. The vehicle identification number is indicated on a specially designed plate and certification sticker (Fig. 1.17).

The engine serial number is stamped on the engine cylinder block, the gearbox serial number is stamped on its housing (Fig. 1.18).
