Pic. 1.12. Appearance and functional features of the automatic rear-view mirror
At night, if there is a large difference in the intensity of the ambient light and the light entering the interior rear-view mirror from the headlights of vehicles moving behind, the system automatically reduces the reflectance of the mirror and thus dampens the brightness of the light in the mirror (pic. 1.12).
Table 1.3. Purpose of the elements of the automatic rear-view mirror
Element | Purpose |
Ambient light detection sensor (sensor number 1) | Specifies the intensity of light surrounding the vehicle |
Rear light detection sensor (sensor number 2) | Determines the intensity of light entering the interior rearview mirror |
Light-emitting diode | Turns on to inform the driver that the mirror is in AUTO mode |
Mode select switch (AUTO, OFF) | Selects the rearview mirror operation mode: AUTO or DAY |
Electrochromic mirror element | Changes the reflectance |
