This system uses two sensors mounted on the interior rearview mirror to detect differences in the intensity of light entering the rearview mirror from behind the vehicle and the light surrounding the vehicle.

At night, if there is a large difference in the intensity of the ambient light and the light falling on the interior rearview mirror from the headlights of vehicles driving behind, the system automatically reduces the reflectivity of the mirror and thus dampens the brightness of the light in the mirror (Fig. 1.12).
