Knock sensor (V6 engines only) [Toyota Camry XV10]

The knock sensor detects detonation in the engine cylinders and transmits a control signal to the ECM, which reduces the ignition timing by an amount that eliminates detonation in the engine cylinders.


1. The knock sensors are located under the intake manifold. To access the knock sensors, you need to remove the air intake chamber and intake manifold.

2. Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no contact between the knock sensor terminals and the engine.
