Adjustment
When moving the gear selector from neutral to other positions, it should move smoothly and be clearly fixed. In this case, the lever position indicator should indicate the correct position of the lever. If the indicator does not indicate the correct position of the lever, adjust the gear selector cable as follows.
1. Raise the vehicle and secure it on stands. Remove mud flaps.
2. Loosen the gear selection cable pivot bolt nut on the transmission select lever.
3. Move the gear lever all the way down, then return it 2 positions back and set it to neutral.
4. Set the gear selector inside the vehicle to the neutral position.
5. Tighten the gear selector cable pivot bolt nut to the gear lever.
6. Check the operation of the transmission in each position of the gear selector. When starting the engine, the starter should only operate in the PARK or NEUTRAL position of the gear selector.
