When to Use Snow Tires and Snow Chains

Snow tires must be installed on all wheels. Installing snow tires on the front wheels only may result in excessive differences in tire traction between the front and rear wheels, resulting in loss of vehicle control.

Store removed wheels in a cool, dry place.

Note the direction of rotation and be sure to install them in the same direction of rotation when reinstalling.

Installing tires for driving on snow

Selecting Anti-Skid Chains

Use the correct size snow chains. For 205 and 65R15 tires, use the following types of snow chains:

ASide chain diameter4 mm
INCross chain diameter5 mm

Installing chains

Install chains on the front wheels and tighten them as tightly as possible. Do not use snow chains on the rear wheels. Retighten the chains after driving 0.5–1.0 km.

When installing chains on tires, carefully follow the chain manufacturer's instructions.

If wheel covers are used, they will be scratched by the chains, so remove the cover before installing the chains.
