Using the wrong coolant can damage the engine cooling system. The coolant must be of the ethylene glycol type to properly protect aluminum components from corrosion. Use coolant "Toyota Long Life Coolant" or equivalent.
This type of coolant will also inhibit corrosion. No other additional inhibitors or additives are required or recommended. Read the information on the coolant container regarding freeze prevention. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for mixing with clean water (preferably demineralized or distilled).
It is recommended to use a 50% solution in your Toyota to prevent freezing down to approximately -35°C. When the weather is extremely cold, it is recommended to use a 60% solution to provide protection down to approximately -50°C. Do not use more than 70% solution for best coolant performance.
