Exhaust system maintenance [Toyota Camry XV20]

The exhaust system consists of an exhaust manifold or manifolds, a catalytic converter, a muffler, and an exhaust pipe. The exhaust system components are attached to the body using brackets and hanger clamps.

Exhaust pipe

The exhaust pipe is connected to the catalytic converter with two bolts (indicated by arrows).

Exhaust pipe (6-cylinder engines)

On 6-cylinder engines, the front section of the exhaust pipe is attached to the body with a bracket with two bolts (indicated by arrows).

Muffler shock absorber

Inspect the muffler shock absorber for cracks and severe wear.



Conduct regular inspection of exhaust system components. Worn exhaust system components cannot be repaired and must be replaced with new ones.
